April 8 - 18, 2019
Regions Unit
Our 5 regions unit is in full swing. We just finished the Midwest Region and next week we will move on to the Northeast Region. Next week students will be researching information to create brochures on each region. Some great ways to learn the states and capitals: practice flash cards, play the online states and capitals games, quiz each other in the car on the way to school!
Math Update
Fourth grade math is excitedly learning about fractions! This week students have been adding & subtracting fractions, and converting fractions and mixed numbers. At this point, it is imperative that students know their multiplication and division math facts in order to continue to succeed in math. Students should continue to practice math facts at home for 5 -10 minutes each night.
Reading and Writing
This past week we continued to focus on reading nonfiction texts about the Midwest Region. We are working on reading for information, answering questions in complete sentences, and using punctuation and capitalization correctly. The fourth graders have become excellent at taking the time to edit their writing for errors and correcting their work.
