November 2018
As the leaves fall, the students enjoy recess in the cool weather!
Field Trip
Fourth graders attended the Opera in the Neighborhood at ETHS. We added to the adventure by walking instead of riding a bus.
Exploring using Adobe
The third and fourth graders have been collaborating on a project to share their pumpkin math activities with others using Adobe Spark. Students are planning, communicating, problem solving, and exploring new technology to create their video. It has been exciting to watch their ideas come to fruition.
Reading Highlights
This month, fourth graders have been reading three different books with similar themes. As students read each assignment, they look for new and challenging vocabulary, analyze the plot and actions of the characters, and seek to understand the author's purpose for writing. Students in each group work together to discuss the books and the questions, difficulties, and insights they gain as they are reading. As a culminating project, we will be researching owls and create an Adobe Spark Slideshow to share our information. We are looking forward to dissecting owl pellets to learn more about these amazing animals we have been reading about.
Math
In math this month we have been learning about multiplication. We have explored many different ways to multiply by using the area model, the shortcut method, and partial products.

We are keeping a Math Journal to help us remember all of the concepts we are learning. Please ask your child to show you their journal and encourage them to use it to help them as they complete their homework.
The students in the lower school now have access to Moby Max which is an online skills practice website. Students will have their own log in and will have access to the lessons and games at school and at home. I have included link for Moby Max under the helpful links section.
