Writing WorkshopThis week we will focus on creating a comfortable and purposeful writing workshop. We will set up our notebooks and read rich literature to get ideas about what to write about. We have practiced how to "quick write" about a topic that is memorable for us.

Math About MeWe have been reviewing math skills from third grade to prepare for our beginning of the year math assessments. While we are working hard on our assessments, we are taking some time to create our Math Notebook covers with Math About Us.

This week at a glance:
Take-Home Folders- This weekend I packed our folders with calendars and homework pages. Each night every student should bring their Green Take Home Folder home. This is where they will record their homework for each night and where flyers and school information forms will be found.
Reading- This week we will begin our Reading Workshop. We will get familiar with our classroom library by taking genre walks and having book passes. We will set up our reading workshop notebooks and take a reading interest inventory to find out what we all like to read. By the end of the week, each student will have chosen their first "just right" book for reading workshop.
Math- We will take a pre-test to find out what we need to focus on in math this year as we begin the new math curriculum.
Writing- We will learn how to write a proper Pen Pal Letter and begin to write our North Carolina Pen Pals.
